In-Home Health Care Benefits

The federal government covers the cost of home health care for affected DOE workers, including licensed nurses, registered home health aides, and trained healthcare workers. The EEOICPA provides for home health care:

  • Regular examinations conducted by licensed nurses, and monitoring of vital signs
  • Professional assessment of a patient’s health status
  • Assessing the effectiveness and side-effects of prescription medication
  • (PT) Physical therapy services
  • Help with ADL, daily tasks, such as bathing, using the bathroom, walking, and meal prep
  • Documentation management
  • Patient’s physician and pharmacy communication
  • Family support

The EEOICPA also provides families with relief for care of covered energy workers for in-home health care services. This can alleviate some of the stress on family caregivers, allowing them to focus on spending quality time with their loved ones.

Personal Caregiver Benefits

In addition to the comprehensive home health care services provided free of charge through the benefits of the EEOICPA program, personal caregivers are also available to beneficiaries. These caregivers can assist with a wide range of tasks, from providing companionship to completing household chores and running errands.

Personal caregivers are trained to provide high-quality care and support to individuals who are unable to care for themselves due to illness or injury. They work closely with patients and their families to create a customized care plan that meets the patient’s unique needs and preferences.

Some of the services offered by personal caregivers include assistance with bathing and grooming, medication management, meal preparation, transportation to appointments, and light housekeeping. Caregivers also provide emotional support and companionship, helping patients to stay socially engaged and active.

Like the home health care services provided through the EEOICPA benefits, personal caregivers help improve patients’ and their families’ quality of life. They provide a vital support system for individuals who are coping with illness under covered care and can help to relieve some of the stress and strain that comes with caring for a loved one.

Not all beneficiaries may qualify for personal caregiver services, and eligibility requirements may vary depending on the specific program or agency providing the care. However, for those who do qualify, the benefits of having a personal caregiver can be invaluable.
